Night in the city. A young woman walks alone on a bridge, her expression unreadable. She stops, hesitates for a second, then climbs over the railings and jumps to her death.

Mysteriously Mara survives and wakes up dazed and confused in a hospital. The doctors react strangely as she asks them to call her Boyfriend Janis.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER

Berlin-born Lydia-Maria Emrich is a young filmmaker who shows great promise. ‘Die Pantherin’ is her exceptional graduation film that she completed as part of her studies in film directing at the IFS International Film School, in Cologne. To date, Lydia has worked as an assistant director to two top German film directors, Hans Steinbichler and Franziska Meletzky. She has also produced segments for the media channel Terra X“ ZDF.

HOW TO BECOME FILM OF THE WEEK

Film of the Week stands apart from the Official Selection process into the New Renaissance Film Festival. Being selected does not guarantee a place in the festival. However, from all the films of the week some will be chosen to be part of the festival, which will be held in Amsterdam (NL) on 29th October 2016. A prize will be given to the overall winner.
